This project was a preliminary step to explore the hidden potential of cucumber for skin rejuvenation in the form of topical cream. From our findings we concluded that a stable topical cream (w/o emulsion) containing cucumber extract can produce a pronounced decrease in melanin content of the skin showing that the formulation has skin whitening effects. The cream produced a pronounced decrease in skin sebum content showing that the formulation has anti-acne effects.

Also known as seaberry, this berry is a good source of vitamin C as well as various B vitamins, vitamin E, lycopene, phytosterols, and numerous phenolic compounds that provide antioxidant benefit.
A unique aspect of this fruit extract is its ability to help stabilize elements in skin that would normally break down in the presence of peroxide and other types of free radicals. Like other berries, it also has a pronounced soothing effect on skin.

An ointment containing an aqueous marshmallow root extract (20%) reduced irritation induced by UV radiation or tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol in vivo. The anti-inflammatory effect was weaker than that of an ointment containing dexamethasone 0.05% (anti-inflammatory synthetic drug), but an ointment containing both active ingredients has higher anti-inflammatory activity than ointments containing individual active ingredients. Marshmallow root is externally used for furunculosis, eczema and dermatitis.

Coenzyme Q10 Extract
In skin, endogenous Q10 levels decline with increasing age. Additionally, UV‐irradiation, which leads to oxidative damage, significantly reduces skin's Q10 levels
In summary, the data presented here show that topically applied Q10 can penetrate the skin, is metabolically transformed, exerts antioxidant effects, and can support the maintenance of cellular energy levels. These effects are not only beneficial for the aged population suffering from a Q10 deficit but also to replenish the Q10 level in skin which is lost over time. People of all ages can benefit from regular treatment with Q10‐containing formulas to cope more effectively with short‐term insults inflicted by UV irradiation and stress to foster long‐term anti‐aging effects for their skin.

Youthful skin retains its turgor, resilience and pliability, among others, due to its high content of water. Daily external injury, in addition to the normal process of aging, causes loss of moisture. The key molecule involved in skin moisture is hyaluronic acid (HA) that has unique capacity in retaining water.
Hyaluronic acid belongs to the extracellular matrix (ECM) molecules. During the past decades the constituents of the skin have been well characterized. In the beginning, most of the studies focused on the cells that comprise the skin layers, such as the epidermis, the dermis and the underlying subcutis. Recently, it is appreciated that ECM molecules that lie between cells, in addition to providing a constructive framework, they exert major effects on cellular function. These ECM molecules, although they appear amorphous by light microscopy, they form a highly organized structure, comprising mainly of glycosaminoglycan, proteoglycans, growth factors and structural proteins such as collagens. Yet, the predominant component of the skin ECM is Hyaluronic acid.
